The Critical Care Unit Experience - A Patient's View
The machines' faint monotonous beeping,
were accompanied by the occasional ring of alarms.
Underneath a donned blue gown,
chest leads ran everywhere.
An intravenous cannula insitu on the left dorsum,
as opposed to the blood pressure cuff
that worked religiously on my right.
Inhaling deeply, the oxygen smelt stale and funny.
Nature calls were answered with a bedpan.
I couldn't be more embarrassed.
The ward, of course, was a different world.
The TV, an attached bathroom (!!!) were now luxuries to me.
However, to my loved ones, the transition
from having someone at your bedside 24 hours a day
to someone checking you once in the night is unsettling,
at the very least,
and utterly frightening at the most.
But I've survived, this ordeal if you can term it in that mannerism.
And to quote, I'm "as good as new" now.

It's been more than a week.
Seven long days since I was diagnosed and wheeled out of CCU.
The only thing on my mind now,
is when can I sink my teeth into a plate of..
CHICKEN RICE!
P.S.: To those who have walked through this with me,
words of gratitude will only do you all injustice.
And to those who were unaware,
you know very well why you all were kept in the dark.

A long overdue entry...

Sure, the event was no blast.
Definitely, the food was nothing to rave about.
Absolutely, the theme couldn't have been more passe.
(Back to school??!!)
And how can I fail to credit the emcee for his outrageous lines?

But alas, because of your company,
I couldn't ask for more that night.
Thanks dear.
Hugz.

Can't wait to leave my footprints there.
And say hello to Nemo.

Secret Garden, Bruce Springsteen
She'll let you in her house
If you come knockin' late at night
She'll let you in her mouth
If the words you say are right
If you pay the price
She'll let you deep inside
But there's a secret garden she hides
She'll let you in her car
To go drivin' round
She'll let you into the parts of herself
That'll bring you down
She'll let you in her heart
If you got a hammer and a vise
But into her secret garden, don't think twice
You've gone a million miles
How far'd you get
To that place where you can't remember
And you can't forget
She'll lead you down a path
There'll be tenderness in the air
She'll let you come just far enough
So you know she's really there
She'll look at you and smile
And her eyes will say
She's got a secret garden
Where everything you want
Where everything you need
Will always stay
A million miles away
